The YMCA of York County wanted to upgrade their existing analog camera system with a newer IP based solution that could be rolled out in phases.
The scope of work included 10 new cameras on the exterior of the main building, and seven additional cameras across two remote locations consisting of five cameras on the exterior of the Hoffman Training Center and two cameras located a few blocks away on Mason Avenue. The remote camera locations are connected directly to the Milestone surveillance server located at the main building via Wireless LAN infrastructure operating in the license-free 5GHz spectrum.
In order to maintain PCI compliance in the most economical fashion, Gettle designed and installed a parallel network infrastructure that was physically separate from the business network. This included switches, wireless equipment, routing equipment and all necessary cabling.
A second internet service dedicated to the camera system was installed for remote access as well as providing the York City Police access with their own log in credentials to be used at their leisure.
Approximately 40 existing analog cameras that are scheduled to be upgraded in the future, were adopted to the new Milestone video management software via IP video encoders.
